Sacraments
of Initiation
Baptism
Baptisms are held on the third Sunday of the month in English, and on the fourth Sunday of the month in Spanish, directly after the 1 pm Mass.
A Baptism class for the parents and godparents
is required if you haven't participated in one in the past year.
Baptism classes are held the second Sunday of each month in the Marlo Cuevas-Balandran Activity Center Banquet Room at 11:30 am in English and 3:00 pm in Spanish. Parents must call the church office to set the baptism date at least one month in advance and dates are only set once everyone has completed the baptism class.
Adults
and school-age children participate in the process for Adult
Initiation. Their baptism occurs at an Easter Vigil when
they have completed their preparation.
Confirmation
Parish teens are prepared during their eighth
grade year and are confirmed in the spring. Students must
participate through Religion class at school (if enrolled
in OLG school), or through CCD classes (if they are public
school students). Confirmation is celebrated by both CCD students
and OLG students at the same mass.
Non-Catholic
adults and school age children and unconfirmed Catholic adults
prepare in the process for Adult Initiation. Confirmation
for non-Catholics occurs when they are baptized or are received
into full communion. Confirmation for Catholic adults is celebrated
on Pentecost.
Eucharist
Second grade students prepare to celebrate
the Eucharist in the spring of each year. Ceremonies are planned
for separate masses for OLG school and CCD students.
Non-Catholic
adults and children prepare for their First Eucharist in the
process for Adult Initiation. Their first reception is celebrated
when they are baptized or received into full communion.
